The Chennai Super Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad are two franchises that have won recent editions of the IPL. It is for that reason that CSK vs SRH games are always hotly contested and ones that people look forward to. Both will head into the new season with hopes of winning another title, but can their play back that up?

The Chennai Super Kings are one of the leading lights in the competition, winning it on three separate occasions. They play their home games at the M. A. Chidambaram Stadium, a ground which has become a fortress for them in recent years.

The Sunrisers Hyderabad won one IPL title in 2016, but they did only join the league in 2012, so haven’t had the time that others have had to add to that, something they would love to do this season. They play at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium, a place that has seen good play in the past, and fans will be hoping plenty more is on show there in the future.

CSK lead the head to head count but SRH, thanks to David Warner, won the last fixture.

CSK VS SRH Prediction

The game above when these two met in 2019 was the latest meeting between these two teams and something to think about when making a CSK vs SRH prediction. That game was tight, but ultimately the star players from Chennai, namely Shane Watson on this occasion, came to the fore to deliver a performance good enough to topple the Sunrisers.

With a few disappointments in recent seasons, including their final defeat in 2018, the Sunrisers will be looking to get revenge on the Chennai Super Kings this season.

CSK vs SRH Final

The CSK vs SRH final of 2018 was one that resulted in a comfortable success for the Chennai Super Kings, thanks mainly to a wonderful unbeaten century from Shane Watson, and innings that will go down as one of the best in any IPL final. Man of the Match Watson hit 117 not out from 57 balls to help the Super Kings to overcome the 178 target that was set by the Sunrisers.

When the Sunrisers took to the field and batted first, their score of 178 was seen as a decent one, and after their innings, they were certainly in the game. However, when batting, the Super Kings came to life and knocked off the runs with ease. They won with nine balls left and only lost two wickets, had they needed to they could have hit more than 200 that day.

CSK vs SRH 2018

The CSK vs SRH 2018 meeting where Chennai were the home team was the second of four meetings between these two teams that season. Chennai won all of them, including the final we have just mentioned above, and this game.

Again they put Hyderabad in to bat first, and again they knocked off the chase with ease, only losing two wickets and relying on a player to score an unbeaten 100 to get them there. The hero on this occasion was Ambati Rayudu, who picked up the man of the match award for his 100 not out, while Watson was involved again with a solid 57 from 35 balls. Shikhar Dhawan with 79 and Kane Williamson with 51 put up a fight for the Sunrisers, but ultimately they were not good enough on the day.

CSK vs SRH 2019

The CSK vs SRH 2019 meeting was much closer, with just one run separating them, and Chennai winning with one ball to spare. The Sunrisers put 175 on the board from their 20 overs, mainly thanks to a great 83 not out from Manish Pandey. Harbhajan Singh took two wickets for the home team to stop Hyderabad from running riot in this one. In reply, Shane Watson was once again the man to save Chennai. He scored 96 runs from 53 balls in this one, a stand that earnt him the man of the match award. The Super Kings chased things down with one ball to spare to take the win in this one.

CSK vs SRH Head to Head

Both the overall CSK vs SRH head to head stats and the recent games between these teams show great dominance for the Chennai Super Kings. They have the upper hand going into the new season and will want to show that once again.

Games played: 13

Chennai Super Kings wins: 10

Sunrisers Hyderabad wins: 3

As you can see from the above, the Super Kings have owned the meetings against the Sunrisers so far. The same can be said for the recent meetings too, something else they dominate. These two teams have played each other six times in the past two seasons, including once in a final and the Super Kings have won five out of those six meetings, including the final. This is going to give them a huge psychological benefit when the teams go out onto the field; their players will know they have the advantage over their opponents, both overall and recently.

This coming season is simple for Chennai; if they want success, then they need to show their dominance against teams like the Sunrisers again, while the team from Hyderabad will be hoping they can turn a corner and start making those stats look a little better.
